• Stanford is transferring the SIFT service to InReference. InReference will make the SIFT functionality available through its Reference.COM service, which tracks messages in which your company or industry is talked about on news groups or mailing lists. Free!
• STAT-USA. This Department of Commerce site offers a number of searchable databases full of business and economic information collected by various federal agencies. A subscription fee gets you the best data.
• Switchboard allows users to search its U.S. database of over 90 million names for telephone numbers and addresses compiled from white pages directories. 10 million U.S. businesses are also searchable.
• TestNow conducts "real people" tests of Web site, etc.
• TEXAS-ONE Electronic Commerce Information. Information resources for business.
• Time Vista: The Online Resort for Small Business. Lots of information from Time-Warner.
• Tripod's Small Business Pod.
• United States Postal Service with a special business section
• University of Texas Advertising World. Marketing communications directory.
• The U.S. Business Advisor provides information for small businesses who need information on federal regulations, loans, and other assistance.

• Who links to your site? Check for links to your Web pages by using the following syntax on AltaVista Web Engine, which links to millions of pages:

• Whois - Find out who is behind that website.
• Xerox's Small Office Home Office (SOHO) site. They host the Home Office Association of America which offers great benefits for a $35 membership fee: group health, a monthly newsletter, an inexpensive merchant credit card authorization service provider, collection services, etc. Be sure to check out their links to home business resources.
